An Imaginary 5CD box set
Tin Machine helped revitalise my career
David Bowie
David Bowie’s brief flirtation with the Tin Machine project from 1988 to 1992 left many fans in the dark and wondering what direction he was following now.
I loved the bleak and sinister sounds (sometimes inflected with touches of humour) and the interesting choice of songs to cover. This spirit is excellently captured on the “Live At The Docks” video (see below).
The name Tin Machine echoes similarly-named bands such as Led Zeppelin and Iron Butterfly, that reflects the balancing of light and heavy in their music.
This is my imaginary 5CD box set to try and capture the essence of Tin Machine. As the title says “Heaven’s In Here!”
