There was the uncle in Parow who’s Cortina I had to stripe. Nice oom; sorry ek kon nie daai bier vroeg middag saam slag nie.
I also did that lighthouse I spoke of.
Then the Hawaiian fibreglass stork visited my doorstep. This one is ok with my bierspier – built for extra, uhm, momentum. Thanks Neil!! Even Miao has respect for this piece!
The Wavescape Film Festival on Clifton 4 was great! ‘The Present’ is a surf movie for all – not just blatant performance surf porn, but a stylish all-rounder with a sweet artistic edge. How many people were there – 3000? Whazup with the cops confiscating sundowners??? I got real firsty on that beach, you know?!
The last job of the year was a nice one. Built a deck, built a canopy, put it up on Koeël Bay beach, stood by for 2 days to make sure the structure masters all the elements, while this boring old photo shoot went on…
…I know, kak job, but somebody’s got to do it.
And this week also saw them people cominin’ and goinin’. Space and his wife arrived, Karin and Barry left (good luck with the search!), King Dyl arrived and of course, Albert Frost, Lelanie and Bella have moved down – how cool is that?! So many cool people around at the moment. And DJ T spinned us some tunes in Long Street (for those of you who are stuck in Gauteng, for some weird reason, for New Years, go to the Tweefontein Melkery on the R24 (I think; the one to Bronkhorstspruit). Cool people, cool tunes and it’s the farm, so camp out or fall over, any way you like it!)
Cape Town has been good to me and Sonnel (and Miao, of course) this year – so if I could hug this chunky ole’ place I would. The way it feels every day the wind does not blow. But I can’t. So thank you chunky city, and the cool people, for a good year.
Next up – beaches, and more beaches…
