Comments
The 8-track version of Animals, released in 1977, has some differences to the normal release. On the 8-track system tracks were arranged in 4 segments of roughly the same length and sequenced to play in a continuous loop. “Pigs On The Wing” features a guitar solo from Snowy White which links parts 1 & 2. “Dogs” on the original 8-track was split into 2 sections and titled “Dogs (part 1)” and “Dogs (Conclusion)”.
Interestingly, most territories (except for the US and UK) show “Pigs On The Wing” as two sections, opening and closing the track list. I wonder if Snowy White’s guitar solo was added at the end of “Part 1”, or maybe at the end of “Part 2” to segue back into “Part 1” on a continuous loop? Or possibly it was omitted entirely.
When performed live on the 1977 tour, Snowy White played his guitar solo at the end of “Pigs On The Wing, Part 2”.
Mothers Talk covered “Pigs On The Wing, Part 2” in 2018 and included the guitar solo on their version.

Pigs On The Wing (Goldtop version)
The complete version was released on Snowy White’s Goldtop: Groups & Sessions ’74–’94 compilation CD in 1995, but it is a different mix to the 8-track version.
The Goldtop version is completely remixed, using the Animals CD version with one acoustic guitar up to White’s solo (which is a bad edit) which is then a remixed version of the 8-track mix to the end. The 8-track and French Promo 45 version starts with the double tracked acoustic guitar (different take than the standard version) and stays that way.
Compared to the Goldtop remix, the original 8-track version has more stereo separation at the beginning and a much less bombastic middle section.

Animals Live
On the “In The Flesh / Animals” tour in 1977 the entire Animals album was played, but in a different sequence to the LP, Cassette or 8-track, and Snowy White’s guitar solo appeared after “Pigs On The Wing, Part 2”.

Pigs On The Wing, Parts 1 & 2 (Live 9 May 1977) with Snowy White’s guitar solo after Part 2
This video features a live version taken from an Oakland, CA concert in 1977 where Part 1 was followed by “Dogs” and then Part 2. I’ve combined parts one and two.
