Falling Mirror’s Nielen Marais Has Passed Away Following Car Accident

Nielen Marais, the vocalist from the legendary South African band Falling Mirror, has died from injuries sustained following a car accident on Monday 9th September. Marais was knocked over by a car in Gabriel Road in Plumstead, where he had lived for the past decade, and passed away on his way to hospital. Nielen was 73.

Nielen Marais was a member of Falling Mirror, the alternative rock band from Cape Town, which was founded in 1978 by Nielen and his cousin, the guitarist Allan Faull. The band were famous for their iconic single ‘Johnny Calls The Chemist’, and the 1986 album of the same name, as well as a string of popular albums like ‘Zen Boulders’, ‘The Storming Of The Loft’, and ‘Fantasy Kid’. Allan Faull died in September 2013.

Details of the Memorial Service for the late Nielen Marais were not available at the time of going to press but will be announced as soon as his family have made the necessary arrangements.
